Dr. Brandon,
There is little I know which you have not already researched. "Hood's Texas Brigade - Lee's Grenadier Guard" by Colonel Harold B. Simpson has numerous references to the Third. Simpson referenced the "Diary of Robert J. Lowry" edited by John E. Hamer and privately printed in 1965. Colonel Simpson was over the history department at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. He established the Confederate Research Center at the college. They dropped Confederate from the name and today the research center is part of the Texas Heritage Museum. Colonel Simpson's research is still there.

I am a member of Hood's Texas Brigade Association Re-Activated. Our annual seminar this year is November 11 and 12. Our speakers are booked for this year, but next year is open if you would be interested. I would appreciate you or descendants of the Third Arkansas who would like to join us, contact me at HTBAR1967@YAHOO.COM.
