Tom, Ken and The Other Tom. Thanks for your suggestions.

As you say the quality of uniforms seem to range from the band box of the Belle Point Guards and Davis Blues to the home made shirts and pants of the Centrepoint Riflemen and the battle shirts of the Hempstead Rifles (not sure about the ID of that photo, the officer commanding does not look very like Gratiot to me)and the Sevier Stars.

What does seem interesting is that every company appears to have made an effort to achieve some uniformity of style.

I read somewhere that Dandridge McRae was appointed Inspector General of the Arkansas State Troops. Are any of his reports still in existance.
