Have you found any existing samples of what was made in Tuscaloosa for comparison? I have only identified one item that is supposedly known to have been made from Tuscaloosa grey wool. However, I don't have a sample of the modern stuff to which I can compare it. The original Tuscaloosa wool is *very* light in color, if the sample I have found is indeed from Tuscaloosa as claimed.
