No problem finding the information about the rifles of Hall's Battalion. In your original question you stated that this unit was attached to the 16th Michigan Infantry Regiment. Please note that this information is widely stated but may not be correct. In several sources, authors indicate that Hall's Battalion was assigned to the 1st Michigan Sharpshooters, who were in the 2nd Brigade of the 3rd Division 9th Corps. I am no expert; however, I do have official army records that indicate that my ancestor indeed did go from Hall's Battalion into the 1st Michigan Sharpshooters. If you have not obtained your ancestors records from the army, it might pay to do so. These records often have some great information about the soldier. Bill
