Yes, those are identifying CS markings I'd look for - also bona-fide soldier carvings that can be identified to a specific soldier, and also (possibly) the S/HC markings or CH/1 markings that some collectors believe are Confederate (Sinclair, Hamilton & Co. or Caleb Huse).
