One fact that many of us don't always consider is that the pinfire cartridge was used in many firearms other than the LeFauchauex system revolver, both before, during, and after the war. There were single shot and double barrel pinfire pistols, made in France, Belgium, and Spain. And, of course there were the shotguns. There was an 1860 patented (patent for the breech operation) 12 bore Robert Adams that was pinfire, in addition to the more famous Lefaucheux (more famous in relation to the CW mostly due to its inclusion in the Schuyler, Hartley and Graham catalog). And, there was the French made Beringer shotgun, but I don't know if that firearm was made before, during or after the CW but they appear to be of the 1860's style. And, there appears to have been a large scale, unlicensed, Belgian production of knockoff pinfire revolvers, in addition to the licensed Belgian production, during the CW years.

I have seen several pinfire revolvers with "CSA" in old English script engraved on them. I don't think these are indicating "Confederate States of America". Do you know what these initials stand for?

As an additional bit of information, the 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry camped at Cane Hill, Ark. for almost 3 weeks. Relic hunters report that the camp is/was full of dropped Merrill Carbine bullets and LeFauchauex Pinfire pistol bullets.
