This is one fine message board...I ask a very general question and glean many well researched facts concerning various arms used by the Confederate forces.

I begun researching a gg grandfather who was in the 13/16th Ga. Calvary about 15 months ago...thought I would develop a few facts about the calvary--write a couple of paragraphs about my gg's calvary unit for the family history and go on...spend lots of time each week on the computer and am amazed at the amount of good information (a minute amount questionable)that individuals are willing to share.

To each an every one who has posted a message concerning my question regarding side arms...my sincere appreciation...I know that your answers involved many hours of research to gain your knowledge....thanks for sharing.

If I stay involved with the Civil War aspect of my GG, I'll never get past his involvement in the War for State's Rights...and the family history will never get completed.

At least the Civil War facts accumulated from fellow researchers will be available for my children, grand children and hopefully generations to follow.
