Any type of ammunition , gardner, enfield or 3 ring nose cast minie, which was designed for a .58 cal. weapon would have been used with the Cook. The CS ord. dept sized their 58 cal. ammunition to fit the .577 enfield and the standard .58 cal musket. The US also did this. It simplified ammunition supply.
