The J E Bleckman firm was founded in Solingen Germany in 1808 and was in business until 1880. A good write up with pictures is found in the book "Civil War Cavalry & Artillery Sabers", by John H. Tillman, Andrew Mobray Publishers, ISBN 0-917218-92-2. The 1860 Ames model & the Bleckman can use the same scabbard. Ames is believed to have ordered two lots of 5000 each in 1861.
