Looks like it never spent a day in the ground. That refutes the origin. It is also one of the most commonly reproduced CS buckles. Hope you didn't pay too much for it. It's possible someone sold it to the man you got it from and lied to him about it. I would check the page that the poster above sent you. I think they have some of these type buckles on there which were supposly shot.
