1853 enfield

A friend of mine acquired an 1853 enfield rifle belonging to a soldier in the 4th Tennessee (Union). The gun has a pewter nose cap and among the markings are "r" and "ur" seperated by crossed swords I believe he said and has 3 little crown things seperated by the number 25 which I'm told means it's either a .577 or a true .58, I forget which. Also stamped on it is E. Marson. Can anyone tell me anything about this guy or the markings? Thanks.
