F diary reads simular Dec,2,1862 Crossed the river in the morning mentions Abbeville and numerous spent cartidges on the road.Possibly the 4IL.skirmish.The 3rd Mich. took one road 7th Kansas Cav. along with the 7IL.Cav. took the other.Thank you.I still would like to figure out why he called them Whiting Rifles.
