My GGgrandfather was 2nd-Lt. John L. Heaton, Co. I, 44th Alabama, KIA at Fort Sanders, 29NOV1863. He was from Randolph County, AL.
Can anyone tell me what kind of weapons he may have been using in 1863 - Rifles, pistols, swords, etc.
I would also be interested in details about uniforms too.
