Wonderful information! I had assumed that these were a civilian type of cap of some kind since they were issued separate from "Musket" caps in the records of issued supplies. (and seemed to be issued to Reb units that had some civilian type of arms)

I wonder if these were an imported cap? I don't know what the potential production in the Confederacy was in the 1862-3 period for caps other than those for longarms and pistols.
