The CS ordinance dept supplied pre-made cartridges. The bullet molds which came with cased pistols were usually for pre-war civilian use and early war before the CS government got up to speed with cartridge manufacture and issue. That is not saying that once and a while the CS calvary didn't use a powder flask and mold made bullets to load up. The lucky calvary soldier on both sides also carried an extra cylinder if he could get one. That is why you see numbers of period revolvers with mis-matched cylinders and frames.
