Sword was lost for seventy years

Capt. D.C. Grayson, Wash. DC was a 3rd Lt. infantry A.N.V. - Manassas ,July 21, 1861,, scabbard was hit with a bullet and he sent it to his father in Luray, Va. later it was found in a burnt barn and stored in an attic for years till it showed up at an antique dealer store in Luray.. Grayson bought it back for seven dollars
