Hi,

I was wondering, I have little knowledge on this, about uniform buttons, particularly those worn by those in Tennessee, confederate regiments. I have seen some Tennesse State Seal, that have been dug or excavated by relic enthusiasts, but they seem to be quite rare, while other southern state buttons are much more common. Did the average soldier who wore a uniform, wear certain kind of buttons, state seals, or a general Block or Script Style, not depicting a certain state, and did these change over the years with supplies getting harder to manufacture or import? If anybody might be able to recommend a book on this, or a link on the web, with some insight in this, I would be grateful.
