Uniforms of 2nd S.C. Vols in Va late '61?

Hello all,
If I have asked this before please forgive me for forgetting. But does anyone have any idea what the "Columbia Greys", 2nd S.C. Vols might have been wearing in the winter of '61-'62 while in Virginia? My ancestor was a lieutenant at that time. He had worked his way up from sgt, to 4th Sgt, to 1st Sgt, then was promoted to Lieutenant. Anyway, I am wondering what sort of uniform he was wearing at that time (late '61).

Had the Richmond Depot started issueing jackets at that time? Would they be wearing Richmond Depot jackets in late '61 or still wearing what they left South Carolina in? If the latter was the case, then what did they depart SC wearing, frock coats or shell jackets? Another thought, being a lieutenant and a merchant and store owner in Columbia at the time, perhaps he had his wife get a nice uniform made for him. I wonder if he might have been wearing a frock coat or a shell jacket with lieutenants' insignia on it, etc?

So, does anyone know much about Kershaw's 2nd S.C. Vols, especially Co. "C", "Columbia Greys"?
Thanks,
