I want to thank you for all your help so far. I got home this evening an looked at the plate very closely. Don't know where I got the 365 from, but it is clearly marked "582 B". After making the inspection and looking at the macro photographs, I do believe it is engraved, not stamped. Let me know if you think the 582 B plate is from an early confederate Enfield.
