Stan,

From the photo I sent you via email in April, it appears that that some companies of the 18th Georgia Infantry were originally armed with either M1816 or M1835/40 muskets.

Todd's AME indicates that the 18th Georgia Inf. was armed with M1842 muskets in 1861.

And based on entries from the journal of an officer of the 18th Georgia Infantry, a portion of the 18th Georgia Infantry was rearmed with Enfields sometime prior to April 25, 1862 ... with the remainder of the regiment being rearmed with Enfields before May 19, 1862. The officer in his journal refers to the longarms originally issued to the 18th Georgia as "inferior guns."
