I recently acquired a nice condition Eli Whitney, 1849 dated Mississippi rifle M-1841. The gun is very nice NRA very good + condition. My question is- were all m-1841'S that were modified by adding a bayonet lug or clip rebored by the arsenals from the original 54 cal to 58 cal for CW service? My rifle has the clip or lug on the right side forward end of the barrel. How would I be able to determine if the barrel were bored or not?
