Mr. Hodge, you are correct in that cotton cards are rectangular with fine wire teeth. They are the essentially the same as wool cards. They have handles attached. They were used to align the cotton fibers until the fibers were parallel. They were then rolled between the palms into 8-10 inch long skeins. The skeins were then spun into thread on a spinning wheel.
