1850's hunting musket

My father gave me an approx 1850 hunting musket.
On the barrel it reads:

Thompson/ Center Arms
Rochester, New Hampshire
CAL 50

I would love to know anything and everything about it.
I would like to know what kind of black powder to use......
how to clean and load it.

It came with SPEER brand .490 round balls
the standard Vorderlander Zundhutchen percussion caps

50 caliber green plastic muzzle loaders,
patches,
and various tools I am not familiar with.

I can send a photo if need be.
I figured this would be a start.

thank you for any and all help,
Denise
