I have an original P. 1853 Enfield Musket, Three Band.Dated 1862 Tower - English Crown.

I saw on the inter net That Enfields with numbers stamped in the stock or on the Buttplate were Confederate inventory Numbers. Does anyone out there know if this is true ? Mine has the number 15 Stamped in the top of the stock near the brass butt plate.
