Since there was a modern nipple in it, the original threads in the bolster were probably messed up to accomodate it. So an original Enfield nipple may no longer fit.

Is Lodgewood's original too big in diameter, or the thread pitch too big? If it's too big in diameter, it may have been an Enfield-style nipple, but not actually a P53 nipple. They *should* all fit, but sometimes not. If the thread pitch is too big, then the bolster has been rethreaded for the repro.

You can try getting another original from S&S Firearms. (I'd say you can also try Dixie Gun Works, but unless you could go there and pick it out yourself there's a good chance it wouldn't really be an original Enfield nipple.)
