Does anyone know if Alabama units inscribed serial numbers on what may be a non issued rifle? One of our SCV members has his ancestors rifle and no markings are visible other than a serial number that is not stamped into the metal but seems to be 'scratched' into the metal. At present I have no other specs on the weapon.
