I have an 1857 Remington Maynard percussion rifle-musket. Very similar to the US Model 1855 Rifle Musket.

I need help to identify a stamp that is on the stock. Location is on top of stock, just in front of butt plate tang. The stam is an . R 10 . (with the R over the 10 going in a vertical fashion breech to muzzle.)
