I am working with a family to dispose of some items. One of them appears to be some type of European smoothbore musket (this from a person much more qualified than I am).

Is there a good web site that one might know of that has information on what to look for at a period weapon, to better make a determination as to the type of weapon it is (type, name, location of manufacture, etc. etc.) ?

Thanks for any direction that can be provided. I will try and get a digital picture and include it on this thread.
