Normally, the name found in the rammer channel will be the gunstocker - the man or firm that fit the stock to the major assemblies and furniture pieces. Although it CAN be the stockmaker - the man or firm who produced the rough stock. However, the name of the stockmaker is normally found in the barrel channel. Some P53 Enfields have different names in both locations, some have a name in one but not the other, and some have no names on the stock at all. There doesn't seem to have been a common practice between all makers.
