I can't tell you much, but I can tell you that M. Hartley Co. was a real business, that was the company's address, and that there are Civil War style belt buckles that exist with that name/address on them. I do not know if the buckles have been authenticated. I also cannot verify that M. Hartley Co. was in business during the CW. I can verify that the company was in business by 1904 (earliest date that I have seen for the company, but I haven't researched it much).
