Recently read an unpublished account of the battle of Shiloh in which the author W.J.Bass of Co G 7th Regt. Miss. Inf. said
“We only halted a few moments and gave them a few rounds with our old muskets which chambered three buck shots &
one bullet"
My question is: What is this type of load called and what type of Muskets most likely fired them?
