I have for the last 30 years had in my possession (1) brown bess rifle 1830 - smooth bore - converted from flint stock to percussion cap back in the day.It has all the crown stamps in the appropiate places and had the following infomation on the stock. 4-c 14 LWR 23 and on the butt had these numbers- 1294- For some reason i would like to identify the person to whom this rifle was originally issused to and return it to a living and worthy descendent. This rifle was found buried on a beach near Lubec Maine and i believe it belongs to one of our boys. Any information as to how i can put this thing together and perhaps bring alittle joy and history to some individualwhose relative may have made the ultimate sacrafice for our way of living. Thanks In Advance ROB.
