Interestingly, your serial number is near the range of some Remington Old Armys issued to the Union Army:

9437 - 10/01/64 - CO I, 4TH WISC VOL CAV
9437 - August 64 - CO I, 4TH WISC VOL CAV
9437 - (another issue, unknown date) CO I, 4TH WISC VOL CAV

9448 - 2/01/65 - CO F, 6TH MICH VOL CAV

9488 - 10/01/63 - CO B, 10TH ILL VOL CAV

You'll note how the same revolver got issued three times!
