HELP! Approximately 4000 fluted cylinder Colt 1860 Army revolvers were produced in th serial number range up to about #8000. The very earliest of these did not have the September 10th 1850 patent stamped in 1 of the flutes. I have 1 in the low 4XX and have seen #450, both without the stamping. I have seen #1428 which has the stamping. Does anyone know when the stmping became standard? The previous revolvers all have serial numbers stamped in 1 of the flutes. It is als interesting that revovers with serials under 6000 have left twist rifling rather than the later standard model. Does anyone have any explanation for this? Also does anyone know of a source for extended shoulder stock frame screws for 1860 Armies? Thanks, WJW
