Re: Found! Proper Felt to Make Wads!

This one has been helpful in a real concrete sense. However, some of us are incapable of following instructions to the letter. I sub-ed Neatsfoot oil for tallow because available at a tack shop. Wife wasn't interested in frying bacon for a week to provide the makins. I followed the recipe until I got to the oil. Afraid the stuff wouldn't set with too much of this liquid at room temp in it, so cut down to 100 grams. Nearly a quart jar full. I dip the wads (cut from the hard Durofelt with a Harbor Freight 7/16" punch opened to .760") one at a time with tweezers and lay on steel stove top, skim them off with a putty knife when cool and throw in paper bag. I hope I didn't mess this up and reduce the anti-fouling effectiveness? Also playing with a Tap-O-Cap and I don't even have the Ruger Old Army yet. In this case, I'm hoping getting the cart before the horse may shorten the learning (and the cleaning" curve. Thanks.
