I'm a fiction writer. I'm writing a story about an American sharpshooter during the Korean war.

I need the name of the "best" rifle of the time used by sharpshooters and why it was the best for its time. Also, if you can tell me details about scopes, and accurate distances covered. Anything that might add color to my story. Even if you can point me to a good website for details about the period... would be much appreciated.
