A Navy Photographer friend of mine, since deceased, was with the Marines at Chosin. When he ran out of film he put his camera in a jeep and acquired a Springfield '03 Sniper rifle. I dont know the kind of scope it had. Frank's idea of googling is a good one. There were also Garand Snioer rifles. These were especially glass bedded, and had a side mounted scope, of about four power. Go to gun sites and you can find all you need to know.

Of course, if you are referring to our first amphibious landing by Marines, you might mean the Korean War of 1871. Maybe a Whitworth would be in order then, left over from the WTBS. Stan
