Hey all,

I am trying to find info regarding period correct uniforms and accoutrements... does anyone know of any good books or websites with closeups of the items and such?

Particularly I am interested in knowing what kind of buttons were issued on union infantry uniforms (Did they all use the I buttons or were some just the eagle with shield?) I've also seen several versions of the way the haversack has its leather straps attached.

Surely there was a set of army instructions regarding the construction of items like this since I am sure they used contractors for most of their uniform work.
