Re: Northern Target Rifle (NTR) during WBTS

The evidence that sporting/target rifles were used during the war is well documented. The Federal Ordance Department's fiscal report for 1862 shows that over 2,000 "common sportsman rifles" had been purchased up to June of 1862 (and this does not include state and/or private purchase). Many soldier diaries and letters mention the use of these type rifles, both North and South. Their use was limited but none the less they were used, if that is your question.
