Over the past few years, I have run across several Model 1849 Colt "pocket" revolvers that were made in 1863 and attributed to certain Confederate soldiers, some being inscribed with their names. I have found no pattern to their issuance as to certain units, but unfortunately I was not paying that much attention to them so I was looking closely for a pattern.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a particular Confederate capture of Colt M1849's from this time period that may have been the source of these.
