Very interesting, indeed!

One of the M1849s that I have recorded as Confederate used, by a member of the CS Medical Dept., is fairly close in number to the highest serial number of those smuggled into Memphis, i.e 224488. The one I have recorded is about 400 higher than that. Considering that 27,000 were made in 1863, that is pretty darn close! Still, I don't know if it really indicates anything.
