caliber of horse pistols
I am interested in learning the caliber of a "horse pistol". I know that it fired a large caliber ball. Would the ball weigh an ounce or not? General B. F. Kelley was shot on June 3, 1861, and there is some debate if he was shot by an old fashioned horse pistol or a musket. Most accounts indicate he was shot by a pistol. I would like to determine the truth of this case. Thank you for your help.
