I was given a pair of what was said to be Civil War era field glasses, but I am not sure because of their small size. I was told that they were used by officers in the field who did not what to carry large, heavy field glasses. They appear very similar to many examples used in the CW but, again, they seem small. Does anyone have any insight and were glasses this small actually used in the field? Description - Fully closed: 3 ½ inches; Full extended: 5 ¼ inches; Inscription on the eyepieces “Wolverhampton” and “Blackham”.
