Kerr Revolver/ Holster serial #280 JS

I have a Kerr Revolver in very nice shape with the holster the seems to be an original one for it(fits and shaped to form of pistol) It is Kerr's Patent 9522 with 280 stamped on the cylinder and the trigger. It belonged to a confederate soldier from Va. by the name of Robinson and has been in my collection for about 50 years. Can anyone help me to find more as to its rariety and what Va. unit it belonged? I will be offering it when I can document its history more accurately. Thank for any help. Brander Robinson
