I am looking into the story of a William and Mollie Wigginton of Missouri who supposedly smuggled pistol caps from Illinois into Missouri. Their brother was George "Bud" Wigginton who rode with Quantrill. The story is that William escaped from prison at Alton Il and that Mollie traveled to IL, met with William, and brought back the caps in the false bottom of a trunk. William escaped from Alton in 11/63 and was recaptured in 11/64 at Concord IL. Where would he have access to these pistol caps? Were there manufacturers in this area? Any help is appreciated.
