Hello Sir, I Have inherited a Sharps rifle from my Dad, and do not know exacly what

I Have. This rifle has a serial# 65166 and would seem more of a sporting-rifle. The

stock has a "DFG" with a border around it, has; criss/cross cuts in butt& for-wood,

"maybe a hunting gun?" Gun has stampted on left side of breech; Sharps PAT SEPT 13

th, 1848. Above the trigger on right side stamped "C SHARPS PAT OCT 5TH 1852, on top

of the barrel behind the "raise-up" site it is stamped Model 1863 on a 20&3/4" round

barrel. It does have frt & rear sights and in great shape. Gun has been in a safe for

many years, and oiled before storage,"38 yrs" Any help to tell me what I have will be

greatly appreciated, Thank-you,, David Mulholland, Jackson, MS.
