The latest edition of Flayderman's Guide states only 6,150 of the model 1863 rifle were made, and their serial numbers range from C30000 to C40000(130000 to 140000). So, your example was one of the last to be manufactured. It possibly was made after the conflict was over, or just did not get issued to frontline troops. Have a good sale!
