Sam Watkins in his book, Co. Aytch, tells of the Yankees attatching mirrors on their rifles in order to fire over their headwall without exposing themselves to counter fire. I think he mentions this in reference to the "Dead Angle" at little Kennesaw, but I do not have the book with me at present to check this.
