Gentlemen I need some help. Today I bought a 1841 mississippi musket made by Robbins & Lawrence the lock plate is dated 1848 and U S marked on the lock plate and butt plate. It was checked out and deemed totally orignal and complete down to the bayonet lug, it is part of the first 3000 of a 15000 order ordered in January 1848. The thing I need help with is on the butt plate it is atamped P E 1858 does anyone know what this means. Thanks Larry
