I have Marcot's book but could not find much more info than you gave me. I know stories passed down are not the best of proof (if any) to pass on but guess that is all to go on for now. What make it so different is that I have never seen any gun close to the likes of this one.
Now I need to find out about my Colt 45. 1871 serial Number 30952. All parts marked the same, even the orginal solid walnut handle is marked in ink under the back strap. My Grandfather's brother won this in a poker game in the 1880's (A Wild Texas family, Ha,Ha.) Colt now charges any wheere fron 75 to 300 to do any research on guns, according to the letter they sent me.
